ABOUT BURGHLEY LODGE

Building Friendships in Stamford Since 1990

Burghley Lodge is a welcoming and vibrant Freemasons' Lodge based in the historic town of Stamford. Since our consecration in 1990, we have brought together men from all walks of life who share a common desire to build friendships, support their community and become the very best versions of themselves.

A Warm Welcome

At Burghley Lodge, we believe Freemasonry is about people.

While we are proud of our traditions and history, what truly makes our Lodge special is the atmosphere. Whether you've lived in Stamford all your life or have recently moved to the area, you'll find a genuine welcome from members who simply enjoy each other's company.

Our meetings are only one part of Lodge life. Throughout the year we enjoy social evenings, dining together, family events, visits to other Lodges and opportunities to support local charities and community projects.

Many friendships made within Burghley Lodge extend well beyond our meetings.

Our Story

Burghley Lodge No. 9364 was consecrated on 31 March 1990 and proudly takes its name from one of England's finest Elizabethan houses—Burghley House.

From its foundation, the Lodge has been built on the principles of friendship, integrity, respect and service. Over the years, members have welcomed men of all ages, professions and backgrounds, creating a Lodge that values diversity of experience whilst sharing common values.

Today, Burghley Lodge continues to grow, combining traditional Freemasonry with a modern, welcoming approach.

Why Join Burghley Lodge?

People join Burghley Lodge for many different reasons, but they often stay for the same ones.

Lifelong Friendships

Freemasonry creates friendships that span generations. Our members enjoy spending time together both inside and outside the Lodge, building connections that often last a lifetime.

Personal Development

Freemasonry encourages confidence, communication, leadership and personal growth. Whether you'd like to improve your public speaking, take on new responsibilities or simply challenge yourself, there are opportunities for everyone.

Supporting the Community

Helping others is central to everything we do.

From supporting local charities and community projects to fundraising for national causes, Burghley Lodge is proud to play an active role in making a positive difference within Stamford and beyond.

A Busy Social Calendar

Being a member isn't just about attending meetings.

Throughout the year we organise:

  • Ladies' evenings
  • Curry nights
  • Informal pub evenings
  • Summer social events
  • Christmas celebrations
  • Visits to other Lodges
  • Community events
  • Charity fundraising activities

Families and friends are welcome at many of our social events.

Who Can Join?

Freemasonry welcomes men from every background, profession and culture.

Our members include people from many different walks of life, united not by what they do, but by the values they share.

You don't need to know a Freemason to enquire about joining, and no previous knowledge of Freemasonry is required.

If you're over the age of 18, have a belief in a Supreme Being, and would like to become part of a welcoming community built on friendship and integrity, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
